Twin Cities historic home restoration

Structural precision.
Old‑world craftsmanship.

We engineer the structural, framing, and weatherproofing layers correctly from the inside out. Then we restore the trim, joinery, and windows that give an older home its character.

Co-owner

Ken Madden

Engineer turned craftsman.

As co-owner of Lynnhurst Remodeling, Ken Madden brings an engineer's eye to every restoration. Before founding Lynnhurst, Ken built a background in structural systems and disciplined project planning, and today applies that same rigor at the workbench — diagnosing problems before they're ever covered by a finish. His approach ensures that the structure behind your walls, and the craftsmanship in front of them, are both built to last.

"I've always been drawn to the tangible nature of the trades. My engineering background gave me an eye for structural systems and disciplined planning — but the real fulfillment comes from standing at the workbench, shaping wood, bringing a neglected casing or a century-old window back to life."

Co-owner

Kris Knoke

20+ years in the plumbing trade.

As co-owner of Lynnhurst Remodeling, Kris Knoke brings over two decades of hands-on expertise to every project. Trained as a union journeyman plumber, now working independently, Kris has built a comprehensive skill set spanning residential service, custom remodeling, and new construction over more than 20 years in the trade. His deep technical knowledge ensures that the vital systems behind your walls are installed and maintained with the highest level of precision and care.

"There is a deep satisfaction in doing things right. I've spent over 20 years in plumbing, tackling everything from ground-up new construction to delicate remodels. That hands-on experience in the trades naturally feeds into my drive for DIY and home remodeling, where I can see a project transform from start to finish."

How we work

Diagnosis first, then the finish.

Hands marking a floor joist with a framing square in an older home

Precision before aesthetics

We diagnose why a floor sags or a load path fails before we touch a finish.

Restoration over demolition

We repair original trim, joinery, and wood windows. When something's truly beyond saving, we replace it to match your home's age and character.

Hands-on, family accountability

Local dads, working in your occupied home like it's our own: clean job sites, honest timelines.

No project too small

A repaired bookshelf, a stuck door, a single room of trim work — smaller projects are often where trust gets built, and where longer restorations start.
